Washington City Council recap — September 23, 2026

What the Washington City Council took up on September 23, 2026

Brief summary of the September 23, 2026 Washington City Council meeting:

The largest item is the clearest. The Church Farm Road pump station and pipeline contract is nearly $2.9 million and it is listed under its own heading, outside consent, with the contractor and the exact amount. Unlike the August and early September agendas, this one notices public hearings, for the church height waiver and for the restaurant's proximity to a community location, and it tells residents how to submit written comment before the meeting. The liquor license consent that depends on the proximity decision is a separate vote after it. Consent is the September 9 minutes only. The general plan amendment is the exception to the pattern: it changes the designation of land at three locations for one applicant, adding the MD, MHD and CCOM designations, and it is listed as an ordinance with no hearing. The Reagan billboard settlement resolves litigation and the agenda prints nothing about its cost or terms. The closed session is not counted here.

*Procedural-transparency score grounded in the agenda as published: 12 listed item(s) — 2 public hearing(s), 1 on consent, 1 land-use/ordinance, 4 other action, 4 presentation(s).*
